J.A.M. welcomes Airwave in its roster

Good news peepz,

I've just joined JAM, my friend John 00's agency's roster for all bookings. I'm joining a roster that also manages longtime heroes of mine, with the likes of John, Vibrasphere, and... Astral Projection, I think I'm in good hands now.

you can have a look at john's website for more info, and you can thank him for giving me a chance:

a mix album in the making

hey my friends,

I can't tell you much more about it right now, but I've just finished mixing the first volume of a brand new series of compilations. I got the chance to use a lot of exclusive and previously unreleased material.

The mix is just bombastic, and I hope you will like it as much as I do.

Take care
Laurent

A little bit delay, my apologies

hey my friends,

I know many of you ordered your copies of Touareg through our shop and still haven't received them.

In fact, we finished packing the dvd boxes this week, but still there are no discs. We're still waiting for the delivery of all cd's, although we ordered everything on schedule.

Although I can't be held responsible for that delay, my sincere apologies. We're doing everything we can to solve this situation, and the cd's ship today.

Happy

Good memories, God bless the web for that

Hey my friends,

Today I just found this while browsing videos

One of my best gigs ever. Something I will remember for the rest of my life.

Enjoy

3 days to go... if everything goes well

My friends,

I hope you're having a nice day, I'm enjoying the shining sun in Belgium, for once Happy

3 days to go only, and you see me extremely worried now, as I expect a lot of sabotage inside the distribution networks rght before the Touareg release.

To keep it short, our entire industry depends on people who have no ears at all, who don't want to do their job the right way and/or who cannot take risks. Welcome to the Real World, they say. Let's hope everything goes well, though, and that everyone finds the cds at stores.

Belgian people can order the cd version through our site, as I'm afraid it won't be available in my country, AGAIN.

Despite that bad news, let's not be too negative about it and let's not forget that only music matters.

Enjoy the sunny weekend peepz.

Take care

Airwave Official Release Trailer!!!!

Other featured artists on Touareg!!!

coka1

This is Mangué Camara, better known in Belgium as Coka. Coka made his own percussive instrument called the Bolon. Very interesting part of it is the huge resonance that you get out of it, and the strings and bells attached to it. It's simply amazing, as if you had 5 percs playing at the same time!!

I met him while I was out for a walk in Brussels, and got immediately touched by his skills, as he was playing the Bolon and singing in his native language at the same time, perfectly in sync.

Coka collaborates on two tracks off Touareg.

Angélique is my mate Karl's girlfriend. Angélique is studying lyrical and classical vocal techniques at the Brussels Royal Music School. She is extremely talented and also a big fan of electronic music. You should hear more of her great vocals in the months to come. She appears on Urban Touareg.

DSC_0011_2

Ludovic Meyer is a long time friend of mine, and you know him for sure if you know Cape Town. We have made every single production together since 2006 for Cape Town. But for this one I asked him to push his own boundaries, by playing the alto sax... which he hadn't done for years! Batignolles Blues is the result of it, and we're both extremely proud of this new Baby!!

And last but not least....

More info about it soon!! Haha

full 10 minute Trailer of Touareg on its way!

Welcome back.

I made a 10 minute- Trailer especially for you so you can check a few beats of every single track on Touareg.

It should be on within the next 48 hours.

By the way: I discretely uploaded the tracks on many dj's ftp (or by Yousendit through their e-mail) without any artist name. Apparently they didn't pay attention at all. That proves how much they are sheep LOL.

I remember those times when a track was being played because it was simply tasteful, but I'd better forget that and focus on the future.

End of this month in Progrez a full showcase of the whole album, hope that you will be there.

The CD version is coming out alongside with the Download version, perfectly in sync, thanks to our partner zyx music. Whether the cd will be distributed in my own country is another story. Trilogique got dumped by all major shops, so I doubt things change this time, but you never know. Anyway, there will be internet orders through Bonzai, no worries.

Later on more news, peepz

Take care
Laurent

Teaser Three

God Bless Backups!!!

Heya,

This week saw me having a huge system crash which involved a full and clean reinstall of everything. By chance a few weeks ago I started testing live backups on the fly on an external hard drive.
All files inclusive those of Touareg's would have been completely lost if I hadn't done that.

So, peepz, by any means, always make sure you have a backup, as those things always happen when you don't expect them at all!!!

Take care
Laurent

PS In a few days, I hope I can deliver more Touareg Trailers, but due to a lack of decent video software (and it's too expensive for my needs), it takes time to juggle between all apps...

First Guest Artist feature on Touareg

Hi my friends, as I said, Touareg features a few guest artists. Most of you have probably never heard of them, still, they have natural talent that forces respect and requires support.

Let me introduce you to the first guest artist, who surprised me a lot by going for it almost imediately.

His name is Didier Likeng, and he's originally from Cameroon, a city called Yaoundé. Back at the age of 10, he was already singing gospel in various local churches, and his talent has just kept surfacing since then.

Petis Didier Likeng came to Belgium in 1989 in order to study at our famous univeristy, and got his grade in 1995. Meanwhile... he was already singing with the "Black and White gospel singers" band, was playing several instruments, with bass being his #1 choice.

Nowadays, he's part of "The Marvellous Gospel Singers" Band, that acts several times a year worldwide. Besides that, Didier organizes Gospel Camps across Europe and shares his knowledge so generously that you know only gifted people like him would do this.

Didier is for my part the most incredible vocalist in the genre that I have ever heard so far. And he's also an amazingly humble person, which makes his personality, his vocals, and naturally our collaboration totally unique.

Here's a couple pictures of his:
didier-sepia-crop
Concert Chˇrubins
Later on, I'll talk about more collaborations.

Take care

Easter Greetings

Happy Easter my friends

Well, I have excellent news again...

I've got the master copy of Touareg in my hands as it's now ready for shipping to production, finally!

First it contains a lot more tracks than expected, as we added some and ended up with more than 15 but less than Trilogique's 30.

Secondly, I have a plan on how to promote the album the right way, so it might be unavailable on our promo pool for the "pro-djs". After all, it's just unfair how some arrogant kids on our promo pool get everything for free while you, the real fans, have to buy the tracks. I've always been against this, and this is why I kindly ask all label people not to send me any music for free anymore. I already did, but some do not read my replies or posts on this site, so it's a good way to remind them of that.

Thridly, and this is good news for everyone probably, no edits at all, not even on the cd version, which becomes a DOUBLE cd of course. So, basically all tracks come in full length, and no exception was made.

And Finally, the sounds, the music and everything else... If you expect fanfare leads as in I want to believe, you're not too far from reality, if you expect the prog groove beats as in Trilogique, you're close, but all tracks are faster and stronger. So to sum it up, we came back to the roots, but kept everything else in mind, and added a brand new touch in terms of structure that makes it a unique journey.

I really thought that I wouldn't be able to finish it on schedule, specially because everything that I wanted to do with it. Special collaborations with out of this world musicians you have never heard of and who deserve a lot of credit, recording sessions with them, mixing, finding those structure ideas... This album has been my worst nightmare, as I thought until friday that I wouldn't be able to make it sound exactly like I wanted and deliver it on time.

Thanks to your support, we made this happen, thanks to your help, we are on schedule. And thanks to you, I didn't loose my integrity by making a mindless pop-trance album featuring female singers without character, like some will do in the next few weeks.

So, lemme tell you in 2 words: THANK YOU.

Belgian fans, see you tonight at Illusion, Lier, and let's celebrate this together.

Take care
Laurent

Thoughts of the week, Introducing Share your views

Hello again! Welcome back

I have been thinking a lot about interesting subjects last weekend and of course I'm more than happy to share my thoughts with you, you know that... But I want to insist on the fact that your thoughts are also a source of inspiration for this site, too, and they're more than welcome.

This is why I renamed the "Releases" menu, that from now on will be named "Share your views". Visit that page, and comments what's being posted here, share your comments with others...

And here were my thoughts of the last few days.

I would like to talk about piracy again. This time not about music piracy, but about Software piracy.

First of all if I ever told you that I've never used any piece of cracked software, it would be a huge lie. Everyone has used them. Nowadays, you can just download anything and use serials, cracking apps... Everyone has used illegal copies of pc games on his/her computer for example, it is a fact.

Thing is, you don't make any money out of using cracked game software. Most of the time, if you're a fan, you end up buying the game, because of your karma, and because you like something so much that you need to own a piece of it.

I've seen many upcoming talents using illegal copies of Reason, Live, Logic, Cubase, and lately also FL Studio for years and years without thinking about buying a real license. Same goes for plugins. I won't get my gun and shoot those down. It' s not the point of this post. It's more a Karma thing, and those musicians doing this have to put all of their priorities in the balance and make a self-exam of their own souls.

Supporting Ableton, Propellerhead, Steinberg, Image-Line Software, and also Native Instruments, Sugar Bytes, Linplug, and so many others is CRUCIAL in my opinion. Many people don't understand why people like me keep on making music as a full-time occupation. Well, I just do the same "job" as they do. Whether you work for a 100+ people company or on your own, as a creative person, it's not for the money, it's your vocation first of all, and it always should be that way. But my position is quite strong on that point, if you go for something in life, you shouldn't be running out of money because a bunch of pricks lack respect for your work!

There are companies, though, that I don't understand, sending SPIES to medium or even small studios, and then stalking people who didn't pay for a 2300$ plugin license that's not even worth a tenth of it.

So, I came to the conclusions that:

1) spying people using cracked software isn't a solution, it makes music developers ridiculous
2) music making software is quite pricey as you have to pay for it in one pass
3) it's also a huge investment if you can't make sure that you will end up releasing records and getting money out of it
4) the web is getting extremely mature and this fight against piracy will never end if people camp on their positions. There's no fight necessary

I imagined some pieces of an entire puzzle that might solve this. I based myself on what some creative people have been doing lately, so I won't take the glory at all.

1) Devine machine is doing it pretty well: a montly fee for the use of a plug-in of a piece of software. Why not?? You start working immediately, and you just pay a ridiculously small fee every month.

2) Advertising inside apps! Every single website has those banners, why not pro-apps? I know it looks ridiculous... But after all, Google apps are free thanks to the huge ad-income! And ok, you have the pro-versions which are not that pricey, though! Thanks to Adobe Air technology, this adware might even get updated every now and then when you're online, but remain in your app once you're not on. The introduction of ad inside applications is a huge step forward, I know, but I think it could make smaller companies survive, so creative people could keep on doing what they've been made for! And you could restrict this advertising to the context of your app. (No diet-coke inside Live, please!)

3) The creation of a Worldwide Syndicate for Electronic musicians with the obligation to be affiliated in order to release records, so the scene would have a better control on its members. Just as many movie-people do in Hollywood, ahem. Of course a syndicate also defends its affiliates. Our scene is being ruled by chaos that irresponsible muppets leave after them, courtesy of dj mag! It's time for a huge change as I said. So what about an affilation program that shows how much people respect others, after all?

These were my thoughts.

Now it's up to you.

Get in that menu, and please, let everyone know!

Thanks to Humble people like Peter Kirn from Create Digital Music, who constantly works on this matter

Touareg is not far away, Meanwhile

hi everyone,

This week saw me rework some of the airwave classics. They're no remixes, though, as I just updated the overall sound and adapted the structure. I think those don't need additions as this way they remain true to themselves.

Touareg is extremely close to entire completion. My partner Ludovic came here in order to record some live parts, resulting in a wonderful track. Hope you will like what we've done. Only two tracks left , by Easter I think I will finish everything including details and Artwork, as I'm planning to do it on my own this time.

hey peeps,

The brand new site keeps me busy. One thing that's missing for sure is an online photo page that I am about to create. I would like you to send all of your party pictures that you took while I was playing, and this way create a lot more interactivity.

Meanwhile, enjoy a very first example, taken by a french fan at the Intuition Summer Event last july.

I'll tell you when it's finished, it shouldn't take too long. Then, I'll add a menu on the right for the pictures.

TESTING ONE TWO... can you read it??

Okey peeps, just been checking now, and it works for real, so I can communicate with you in real time on my own.

It's good to see this work, as everything that's web-related generally scares me off. LOL

Have a nice and hopefully not too rainy sunday, weather is horrible at my window. :-p

Take care.
L.

Welcome to 2008... & my new website...

Hello all,

Welcome back to this channel, and most importantly, to the brand new version of my website.

It was time for a change, because the old website, although being a good one, didn't suit my needs to communicate and interact with you.

From now on, I can blog here and sync everything at the same time, share some pictures, and videos without having to ask a 3rd party to do it for me, like the so-called "superstars" do.

You know how much I like feeling close to you all. So, I'm incredibly happy I can do it on my own... Happy

This year will see me release a lot of music.

First of all, expect Cape Town "Aviateur" in the upcoming weeks. You don't realize how much I like this album, and I'm sure you're going to love it if you're into uplifting trance.

Secondly, FIRE & ICE IS BACK!!! Tour de Trance is on its way, and you can listen to a snippet on this website. Hope you will like it.

And of course, most importantly, Touareg is on its way. My next Airwave album is something I consider as my biggest masterpiece, although it's far from finished. It will be again a Love it/ Hate it thing... but this record has the biggest part of my personality inside. Imagine me naked in front of thousands. This is it...

Don't forget Progrez, too, every last wednesday of the month, on DI prog, NRJ Belgium (103.7 in Brussels), and many others.

So, next post, I'll try to make pics (and videos) of the people I'm working with. Meanwhile maybe you can send me your pics with me at various gigs?? If you have some, drop me a line so I can post them on this site.

Take care my friends and see you really soon here!!

Laurent
